atlee's spring dance recital was this past saturday and it was adorable! she and all the girls really put on a show. i was a pretty proud mommy because she actually knew the moves and did them quite well....i might add. we definitely have a little mover and shaker on our hands. :)

atlee attended her first rangers game on may 14th. the bank took all employees plus one other to the game and of course my "other" was my other 'lil half. we celebrated with a bus ride, tailgate party, and a great game! we had a blast and plan on going back very soon.....but next time with daddy. he couldn't make it this go round because he was out of town.

first ski trip

we took atlee on her first ski trip to angel fire, nm the first weekend in february. our friends from decatur- jason, maria, and landree were able to join in on the fun too. we are so glad they came because we had such a fab time! after arriving we learned that the age requirement for ski school is 4 yrs...so we obviously didn't do school this year. we decided to go ahead and get the girls into some ski's and let them get the feel for it. the first day they were a little apprehensive, but did ok with us just guiding them around. the second day was much better....they were brave enough to get on the top of a hill and ski down to their daddy's. all in all we think atlee did great for her first time skiing and are looking forward to continuing our ski trips as a family!

what a cold 1st day of february! i told atlee last night that we would probably be seeing some snow today so first thing out of her this am was, "can i go make a snowman?" we did venture out to snap a few pics and make a snow angel.....but i didn't last long enough to make a snowman. she on the other hand was quite the snow bunny and would have stayed out all day if i let her. looks like we will be staying put tomorrow so maybe that snowman will be on our list of things to do. or......daddy.....i am praying that you won't get snowed in at work again and can come help with that lil' guy. :)

our holidays were wonderful! it was great being closer to family this year and not traveling. we only had to get out of the house 2 times this Christmas and had lots of visitors in H-town.....being able to lounge in our pjs all day and have family come to us was a nice change. atlee was so much fun this Christmas! she actually understood all about santa and liked him....she knew that it was Jesus's birthday and why we celebrate the season. of course she is 3 years old so she enjoyed what all 3 year olds enjoy.....opening presents.....and lots of them. i don't have much to document in the picture department since daddy was left in charge of the camera and mommy had the video camera. i have lots of video, but i'm not sure how to shorten them. overall, the holidays came and went in a hurry, but it was definitely a memorable one to see christmas again through the eyes of a child.

ending 2010 and ringing in the new year with our little booger bear and the roberts fam was a great way to close out a fabulous year. cheers to 2011!

these 2 are a hot mess.....and put them together and you never know what you're going to get! we headed to berkley's house for a little house makin'. the 2 little ones actually did a pretty good job decorating....it was beth and i who lacked in the icing department. we both agreed that "cake boss" was not in either of our futures. so we decided we would do what we know best....veg on the couch and gossip while the girls finished up the gingerbread house, pushed baby strollers, shared some chicken nuggets, and spilled a burning candle. all in all it was a good night. oh and my princess didn't lay her head on the pillow until about midnight since beth gave her a christmas tree sweet treat. love you for that beth!

atlee saw her first flick at the theater last night. we watched "tangled" and she was all about it! she did really good......only needed to potty once and sat really still. she did ask alot of questions, but that is nothing new. :) definitely a great movie and i recommend going to see it! now she is telling me she is ready to see "yogi bear".

today is your 3rd birthday. it is so hard to believe that you have been a part of mine and your daddy's lives for 3 years already. you are our world and there is nothing that we wouldn't do for you. since the day that you were born we have had an unconditional love for you and it just continues to grow more and more as we watch you grow. you are such a sweet lovable little girl who melts our hearts with your kind words and hugs and kisses. you encompass everything about a "girly girl" and we adore that about you. atlee- you have such a sweet spirit and we pray that you don't lose that. most importantly, you already have such a love for the lord and that means everything to us. you continually ask me...."what does jesus think?"....."what does jesus say?"....."what is jesus doing right now?" we are so thankful that at the age of 3 you are already asking so many questions about our savior. atlee- these past 3 years have been the best years of mommy and daddy's lives and we look forward to many more to come. we love you with all our hearts. happy 3rd birthday booger bear!

i chuckle and keep walking and then turn around to find her following me with a purple hobo bag on her shoulder.

she is in my bedroom and i walk into her room to get something. she yells at me across the house and says, "what are you doing in my room?!?!"

its about 10:00 p.m. and someone is still not asleep. i go into her room to check on her and she rolls over to say....
atlee: "what?!?"
me: "you need to go to sleep."
atlee: "no, you need to go to sleep!"

we have been talking about ear piercing for awhile now and atlee kept telling me that she wanted earrings like mommy. being such a girly girl i knew that she was serious, but how was she going to react to having an ear gun punch a hole in her teeny tiny ear? so, i kind of just kept putting it off....until saturday when we were taking a stroll through sikes senter mall. we were actually about to leave when we passed by claires and i just stopped for a sec to look in there. i didn't even say anything and nana said, "you want to get her ears pierced don't you?" i told her to do some distracting while i go in and scope out the women who would be giving my daughter permanent ear jewelry. after interrogating these poor girls with question after question like "how long have you been piercing?"..."what kind of sterilization procedures do you have."...."can you tag-team and do both ears at one time?"...."is the manager here?"...."can she be involved?" i'm sure they pushed the silent button for "crazy mom alert"! either way, they made me feel a little less nauseous and i was ready to do this thang. so, as i walk out to get my precious baby i hear nana saying..."they are going to punch a hole in your ear and its going to be a little ouchy....not a big ouchy. it will only hurt for a minute." what?!?!?!?! oh i'm thinking its over now....she is not going to do this. surprisingly, she was still all for it! i guess at the young age of 2 she is already learning that sometimes pain is beauty. so long story short, she was a trooper. she sat so big in the chair while they prepped her and didn't squirm or fuss a bit. claire lady one began the countdown.....1-2-3.....done! a little delayed cry action for a few seconds and that was it! i was so proud of my little precious! needless to say, since this was not a planned event i didn't get pics to document this ordeal. here a few after the fact......

as i sat in my office reading this blog (http://www.laylagrace.org/) and crying, i realized i needed to talk to someone so i headed for the most private place.....the bathroom. i sat in the stall talking and praying to God for a long time about this little girl and her family (who i don't know). although one thing i do know is that this story hit very close to home for me because my little girl is the same age. it made me realize that everything can change in an instant and i have to savor every moment and last night was one of those nights that i will savor forever. i sat down on the couch next to atlee and asked her if she wanted to sit in my lap. she shook her head yes and jumped right in. we cuddled up with a blanket and she laid her head down on my chest....as she watched Dora and as i watched her. then, as she saw me looking at her she looked up at me and said, "mommy, i love you"....and kissed me. moments like these are what i live for now! and reading layla grace's blog put alot of things into perspective for me. even though her time here on earth may be short, she has made an impact in many people's lives. thank you Lord for blessing us!

atlee's school had their christmas play a few weeks ago and it was entertaining (as always). this year her class wore red shirts with hand painted snowmen....courtesy of mrs. kristy. atlee and her classmates "performed" 2 songs.....they basically yelled the words of the songs and banged around some homemade tamborines....it was music to our ears! we had 2 cameras and were snapping away, but the lighting was horrible so none of the "performance" was captured clearly. so, here are a few family pics after the show.....

so this weekends agenda was full of parties....one in decatur, one in henrietta, and one in wf. we only ended up making it to the party in decatur. the rain didn't quite agree for making road trips back and forth, getting a toddler in and out of the car, and trying to squeeze in a nap. so....sorry to Presley and Berkley for missing your parties! i am sure they were a blast. we promise to make it up to you!!! i do know that the one party we attended was tons of fun. Atlee was so excited and reminded me several times on Saturday morning about going to Dylan's birthday party....she couldn't wait to get there. Dylan is one of her best buds at school and they are like 2 peas in a pod. so....here are a few pics of her classmates at the party......

so i think our child has leprosy.....not really. whatever this is, is really disgusting looking, right?!?!?! this "stuff" came up on her back about 3 days ago. it kept getting worse until finally her school called and said i needed to come get her because they think she has hives! i got her in to the doctor and after tests and exams, it seems to just be a bad case of exzema. so, i bet you are wondering what it looks like now? after just 1 application of prescription cream, its completely gone!!!! weird, i know.....i never thought that nasty stuff was going to go away!

we took Atlee to the fort worth zoo for the first time today and she loved it!!!! her favorite animal was the tiger....she would scream and point in excitement when she saw them. there were also some babies that were wrestling around and she thought it was the funniest thing ever! it was such a wonderful experience and we will definitely be going back soon!!!

6 christmases

we had a wonderful Christmas this year or should i say we had 6 wonderful Christmases!!!! we started out at Eric's grandparents (the Wyricks) house the afternoon of Christmas Eve. we spent a couple of hours there just having enough time to eat a snack and open gifts. next was Candlelight service at First Baptist with my Dad's side of the family. after church we headed to my aunt and uncle (Kathy & Derek's) to eat dinner and open gifts again. last stop for the night was Booah and Papaws. we left there about 10:30 and Atlee was a pooped pup by the time she got to bed. Christmas morning we went to aunt Kim and uncle Jabin's house and opened gifts with them and my mom. shortly after we stopped by Eric's moms for a yummy lunch and more gifts. last stop on our journey was Eric's dad and stepmoms. whew....we survived a fast and furious one....all in 2 days!!!! as you can imagine, with ALL our loving family, we had a blessed holiday!!!! hope everyone enjoyed Jesus birthday as much as we did!!!

atlee's daycare had their christmas play thursday night and she and the rest of her classmates were reindeer. it was so cute!!!!! picture this.....about 20 infants and toddlers all on stage singing at the same time....talk about chaos. there were a select few that attempted to sing while the rest of them screamed, picked their noses, and ran around the stage.....too funny!!! i do have to report that that my little one was such a precious angel....or should i say she was like a "deer in the headlights". overall, it was a great night and we managed to get a few pics with Santa (she wasn't quite sure of him either...go figure).

Atlee turned 1 year on November 14th! so in celebration of her birthday, we had a big bash for her on Saturday! poor thing was so exhausted even before the party began, but we were able to get in a cat-nap before all the festivities started. she woke up just in time for the good stuff....to open all her gifts and stuff her face with cake and cookies! she was set on eating her Di-Di's (Eric's mom) homemade cookies and wasn't very interested in the cake at first. once i got the cookie away and gave her a taste of the icing it was all over.....she shoved the entire piece in her mouth. of course everyone started laughing and the noise startled her....she immediately started to cry, but that lasted no time because she realized that yummy cake was still in her mouth! we eventually had to take it away from her or she would have eaten the entire cake....like mother, like daughter! on to the gifts.....she got sooooo many toys and really didn't know what to do with everything. she actually was more interested in playing with the balloons. she is still finding toys and her face is priceless when she lights up with excitement to see something new. so, thanks to everyone who showered our baby with gifts and love on her 1st birthday!!!!

Atlee had a blast playing with her new toy! our neighbors were cleaning out their garage a few weeks ago and stubbled upon some old toys that their kids had outgrown....they thought that atlee would get some good use out of them and they were right! she loves her new tigger truck! thanks to the Hammers!!

yesterday was Atlee's 1st day of school! as any first time parents, we had mixed emotions, but knew it was time for her to meet new friends and learn the "ins and outs" of daycare. soooooooo.....we decided it would be best for daddy to drop her off for the first few weeks until she gets adjusted....i just couldn't stand to see her cry as i walk out the door. much to our surprise, she hasn't cried for us at all!! she has been busy taking everything in and playing with with her new friends to realize we aren't there! she is doing great and adjusting well....looks like we are off to a good start!!!

ok, so i hope no one has a heart attack reading this because its true.....we finally have a personal computer AND decided to start blogging! i know, i know, you all are probably thinking that i am lying, but really i'm not. we have gone without a personal computer for 4 years!!!! can you believe that? who does that nowadays? well, seeing how this is our 7th house to live in during the past 4 years you just don't have time to unpack your computer. so maybe actually having a computer at this house shows some sort of permanent residence?!?!?! now....with all that being said and during all the relocations, we had our little miss Atlee. we are so overwhelmed with joy for her and as parents that we thought it would be appropriate to keep everyone up to date with whats going on in her world. so here goes.......
